Do you have a passion for transforming lives through education and research in a growing School of Health Sciences? We performed outstandingly in REF 2021 and 90% of our publications are world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).

The role

We are looking for a Senior Lecturer/Reader, who will be based in the Mother, Infant and Child research group.

The post will have both teaching (notionally 60% time) and research (notionally 40% time) responsibilities. You will be expected to undertake high quality research aligned with the priorities of the research group to which you are applying and to the School’s research strategy. We welcome applications from people who meet the essential criteria and are particularly interested in applicants with applied health sciences research expertise and experience.

Key components of the role include:

  • Collaborative research including preparing grant applications, undertaking research and producing publications
  • Supervising postgraduate students
  • Learning, teaching and assessment
  • Providing student support
  • Other high quality research and engagement activities

Essential and desirable criteria for the posts are set out in the further particulars. The post will be appointed at grade 9, senior lecturer/ reader, depending on the experience and expertise of the candidates to meet the requirements of the role.

We are looking for someone with a commitment to high quality impactful research and teaching excellence. You will have a real passion for research and be motivated to provide the very best experience for our students. We are open to any disciplinary background/expertise that would build upon or complement current strengths. You should be educated to PhD level and demonstrate interest and success in research and education. Candidates should have an interest in interdisciplinary approaches and will have an established track record of obtaining funding for research.

The School has campuses in Dundee and Kirkcaldy. Successful candidates can negotiate which of these would be their base, to ease travel and family commitments. However, candidates must be prepared to travel between campuses for teaching and other activities. We also support hybrid working.
