Department
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced researcher to join an established multi-disciplinary research team at the University of York. The School of Business and Society has an international reputation for high-quality applied research in health and social care. You will be part of a small but dynamic research team undertaking adult social care research.

The group has a range of interconnected projects in progress, mainly funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, based around themes such as self-funding of care, supporting people with dementia (and their families), promoting values-based recruitment in social care and building social care research capacity in local authorities.

The University of York is home to one of the hubs of the National Institute for Health and Care Research’s School for Social Care Research (SSCR).

Role
We are seeking to attract a high-calibre individual whose expertise will complement and grow our existing research and expertise in health/social care research. We are keen to attract an individual who has an appetite to further develop their research career and to make a significant contribution to the group’s work and endeavours.

Flexible/ remote working options are available. The School for Business and Society is based in a modern building on the Heslington West campus in York.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
The successful candidate will be a senior researcher, trained in the social or health sciences or other relevant discipline, with an existing portfolio of work within the field of health and/or social care, or a related area with a clear aspiration for your own and the development of others.

They will also have:

  • completed a PhD in a relevant social science or health/ social care subject or have equivalent experience
  • a proven academic track record including securing funding and leading/ delivering research projects and high quality publications
  • demonstrable research management and leadership skills, including excellent collaboration with partners from research, practice, voluntary sector and public contributors
  • a commitment to ensuring their research achieves maximum impact, and recognise the central importance of patient/user/public involvement in research
