We are interested in understanding mechanisms behind maternal adaptation to pregnancy and defective placental function. You will be working on our recently awarded MRC grant focusing on roles of placental stress and it’s effect on maternal physiology and whether alleviation of the stress can restore normal maternal physiological changes using mouse models.

The successful candidate will carry out tissue collection and storage and molecular, biochemical and histological analyses of mouse placental and maternal tissue samples. You will assist with management of animal colonies (including genotyping) and physiological testing (such as insulin and glucose tolerance). You will also support the general work of the laboratory and have some responsibility for maintenance, replenishment of stock, housekeeping and laboratory cleanliness.

You will be educated to A-level, NVQ level 3 or have an equivalent level of practical experience. The role holder will have experience of scientific research working with small animals and be able to demonstrate their knowledge of principles and processes related to such work.
