Background

The University of Manchester MBCHB programme recognises those who teach our students as extremely valuable resources. Through our staff development (SD) programme we offer investment in the development of our educators.  Our aim is to support the educational development of all staff that directly teach our students, and thereby improve the effectiveness and quality of learning.  This is through Professionals in Medical Education courses, plus online supporting materials on our bespoke online platform: 1MedLearn.

Purpose of Role

The University of Manchester invites all those who teach on the MBChB Programme to attend training and development activities, through Professionals in Medical Education (PRiME).

PRiME Foundation is one component of this, comprising of a course of 6 workshops to develop near-peer educators.

Recently, Health Education England (HEE) North West have backed expansion of PRiME Foundation to all Foundation doctors within the North West Deanery, approximately 900 doctors working with 30 partner organisations.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for successful delivery of PRiME Foundation through this expansion including leadership for junior teaching fellows, under direction of the Academic Lead for MBChB Staff Development and PRiME.

As a representative of the University of Manchester, they will be required to liaise with all members of staff across the programme and the University as required plus critically with HEE and the associated NHS organisations involved.

You will be able to work alongside the Academic Lead for Staff Development and take a lead on required work on Thursdays.  

Who we are looking for

This role would suit a leader in medical education who is passionate about teaching the teachers and has experience of excellence in teaching synchronously online. Please see the full details in the attached role description.

This role is for a Thursday afternoon, and preferred other 0.1FTE Wednesday or Tuesday afternoon, and flexibility to deliver the PRiME Foundation programme will be an advantage.

Your allocated time for this role (0.2FTE) must be documented in your job plan before starting the role.
