Looking for an opportunity to make a real impact in the fight against the Epstein-Barr virus? The Douglas Group, at the Jenner Institute are seeking to appoint a Technology Transfer Specialist – EBV Vaccines to join their dedicated and friendly team.
EBV is a member of the herpes virus family and one of the most common human viruses. It is spread through bodily fluids, primarily saliva. EBV causes infectious mononucleosis (glandular fever), and more than 120,000 deaths occur every year due to EBV-driven cancers, concentrated in China & SE Asia.
You will be responsible for liasing with and guiding researchers at early stages of manufacturing process development to ensure process and materials are suitable for eventual GMP compliant manufacture. You will introduce specialist scientific equipment, raw materials, and analytical assays into the CBF, enabling their future use in the GMP environment. Other responsibilities will include training the CBF team and other researchers on new equipment and processes, and also writing appropriate reports, risk assessments and standard operating procedures to enable the implementation of improved and new processes.
This position is ideal for someone with a Master’s degree in the biological, medical or biomanufacturing sciences, together with applicable experience, and also excellent attention to detail with the ability to document all work accurately and clearly. It is essential that you have the ability to analyse and present scientific data, liaise with other scientists, write up reports and present data effectively and also manage own workload, including time management and prioritisation skills. You will have experience in handling viruses and/or GMOs, and you will be technically adept and experienced at laboratory techniques related to bioprocessing, and assays including standard molecular biology techniques.
