The School of Health Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for one fixed term, part-time (0.6WTE; 3 days a week) post of research associate. The post is tenable from the 9th June 2023 until 31st January 2024 for the study: ‘The impact of an improvised music-making programme on care home staff and family carer wellbeing: a process evaluation’ funded by NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR) and situated in the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, with an opportunity to be co-located at the main offices of Manchester Camerata.

The successful candidate will have a record of excellence in one or more of the following areas:

  • Socially engaged arts
  • Creative social research methods
  • Embodied care studies and practices
  • Qualitative research methods

The successful candidate will be part of a team of researchers led by PI Professor John Keady, supported by Co-Is Professor Alys Young (University of Manchester), Professor Caroline Bithell (University of Manchester), Dr Alexander Gagatsis (University of Manchester), Lizzie Hoskin (Manchester Camerata) and Cathy Riley (Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust). The associate is a key part of a research project exploring the impact of Manchester Camerata’s ‘Music in Mind Remote’ service on care home staff and attending family carers of people living with dementia and the subsequent creation of a logic model.
